Losing their sting

Georgia Tech started 8-0 last year and is 2-6 through eight games this year. To measure the falloff, I used CollegeFootballData.com data (garbage time excluded) to compare the Yellow Jackets' first eight games of 2025 with the first eight of 2026 and ranked each stat nationally. Ten stats sit at least 73 spots lower year over year, led by the offense's havoc rate allowed (19th to 128th) and opponents' success rate on passing downs against the defense (20th to 128th). The table shows each stat's value and rank in both seasons and the places dropped. Havoc is plays that end in a tackle for loss, sack, turnover or pass breakup.
